Women's Soccer Falls to East Stroudsburg

Box Score

BLOOMSBURG-- Lynda Hicks scored two goals to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 2-1 win over Bloomsburg University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's soccer playoffs quarterfinal round.

Hicks put the visitors on the board in the 18th minute when she took a pass from Janel Cleffi and hit the back of the net. Later in the half, Bloomsburg's Ashley Brucker (Blairstown. NJ/North Warren) had two shots, back-to-back, in the 32nd minute but one shot was stopped by the ESU goalie Janine Turcio, while the second shot got deflected away by an ESU defender keeping it a 1-0 game.

The Huskies controlled play in the first part of the second half before the Warriors moved the ball downfield and Hicks took shot directly from directly in front of the goal that got past the Huskies' goalie Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield).

Bloomsburg got on the board in the 63rd minute of play when Kelly Modes (Langhorne/Neshaminy) brought the ball in from the left side and beat Turcio to make it 2-1. But, that would be the Huskies only score of the day.

East Stroudsburg goes to 11-5-3, while Bloomsburg falls to 13-5-1. The Warriors will play on Friday in the PSAC semi-finals at a site to be determined.
